We’re supporting on the recruitment of an experienced Accounts Assistant to join the team on a permanent basis, supporting the wider team and project managers while ensuring the integrity of any reported financial information. You will work with the Senior Accountant and Project Managers to understand project spend on actuals vs budgets and provide support to ensure the accurate and timely recording of all fixed assets for the Group.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with the smooth running of the month-end close process, including the posting of specific manual journals
  • Accurate and timely recording of all fixed assets; complying with legislation and company accounting policies
  • Providing subject matter expertise in improving business processes, supporting correct coding of fixed asset spend, investment expenditure and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Creation and review of project budgets, with any discrepancies investigated
  • Reviewing project spend vs budget on a weekly basis, with any variances investigated and categorised
  • Support Senior Operational Accountant in bi-weekly meetings with Project Managers, to track progress of each project and review spend
  • Periodic variance analysis and reconciliation of depreciation
  • Reconciliation of external stock reports, ensuring any discrepancies are investigated
  • Ensuring balance sheet reconciliation and accounting policies are compliant with Group policies
  • Assist in preparation of periodic Capital Expenditure Pack
  • Work towards Continuous Improvement and in doing so improving relationships with internal and external customers
  • Updating and maintaining procedural documentation
  • Other ad-hoc duties as required to support the operational finance team and wider business

To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced Accounts Assistant or Senior Accounts Payable Clerk that is interested in a varied role which requires an attentive nature and the ability to work in a fast-paced and diligent environment.
You will naturally have intermediate Excel skills and be comfortable working in an autonomous role where you are able to hit the ground running.
